This comprehensive course introduces students to the complex theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary to promote healing through the use of medicinal herbs. The course begins by introducing students to the fundamentals of herbal medicine - simple botanical biochemistry, the medicinal properties and active constituents of herbs, and the historic and contemporary use of herbs as medicine. The course goes on to present a wide array of important medicinal herbs - discussing in depth their habitats, collection, actions and indications - and teaches methods of effectively and safely cultivating, storing, and preparing these herbs.
The course concludes with a series of modules on the development of a professional herbal medicine practice, including skills in consultation, diagnosis, and prescription.
