Employee Assistance Programmes
Research has shown that high stress levels suffered from the shop floor through to the boardroom consistently result in a decline in work performance and productivity, and frequently contribute to individual and family crises. Employees are turning to mood altering substances and prescriptive drugs more than ever before, as they struggle to reach ever higher levels of productivity with a downsized task force.
In an attempt to tackle this worrying trend, companies are now investing in stress management consultants who specialise in employee assistance programmes (EAPs).
Increased employee loyalty and productivity and a decrease in employee absenteeism and occupational injuries are just some of the rewards these companies have reaped through offering this support. Mining, exploration, transport, and travel are the industries which most predominantly require the services of a qualified EAP counsellor.
